. To organize the infrastructure for an effective Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Quality and Communication Management i.e. establish effective project management procedures detailed in a project management plan to be developed.
. To manage and monitor the project and its progress and to ensure that it is run efficiently.
. To enhance the communication flow both within the consortium and between the consortium and the EC project officer(s).
. To guide the dissemination and exploitation of the results of the project.
. To organise the kick-off and subsequent consortium meetings.
. To organise quality control procedures and develop a quality assurance (QA) manual.
. To monitor and oversee all research activities. |

. Creation and maintenance of a project management plan.
. Organisation of periodical status meetings including a kick-off meeting
. Contract administration (including the Consortium collaboration agreement),
. Financial administration, and liaison with the Commission.
. Solution of conflicts and overcoming problems that may arise in the course of the project.
. Organisation and reporting of project meetings.
. Production of management reports and integrated cost statements.
. Processing deliverables through the project QA procedures and submitting deliverables to the EC.
. Well defined quality assurance procedures for the production of reports and other required deliverables. |

For STREPs/STIPs each WP must relate to one (and only one) of the following three possible Activity Types: RTD/Innovation activities, Demonstration activities, Management activities.
Milestones are points where major results have successfully been achieved as the basis for the next phase of work, or which serve as control points at which decisions are needed; for example concerning which of several technologies will be adopted as the basis for the next phase of the project. |
